The position is located at the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF), Barking Sands in Kauai. The position requires U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Clearance (Secret) .

Under the general direction of a Supervisor or Senior Technician, this bargaining unit position Electronic Technician C in the Range Communications, COMSEC Department, will operate and perform operator maintenance on technical systems, including calibrate, repair, troubleshoot, modify, test and install communications and networking systems and equipment. Must be familiar with the communications, video and network systems and equipment or industry equivalents assigned to the Barking Sands, Makaha Ridge and Kokee communications facilities.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
Sets-up, check-outs, operates and monitors systems and equipment for Range Operations support. Responds to changing operational requirements when directed.

Assists other technicians in periodic inspections and maintenance tasks in accordance with published procedures and/or OEM guidelines. Documents results of all maintenance actions in systems and equipment records.

Assists other technicians in troublehooting and repair of systems/equipment by reading and interpreting electronic/mechanical schematics and using simple and complex test equipment.

Assists in preparation of monthly system reports, preventive maintenance logs and other logs or reports reflecting day-to-day operations.

Assists in the installation, check-out, calibration and acceptance tests on new and relocated systems and equipment, as directed.

Must be able to complete appropriate Information Assurance (IA) technical training and certification as required.

Maintains configuration control on assigned systems.

Perfoms other duties as required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
ENVIRONMENT: Electronics shop environment and remote site support.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Must be able to lift and carry, install and remove electronics equipment, peripherals and support systems in excess of 50lbs.

Must be able to climb elevated towers and work in sub-floor areas and crawl spaces in performaing maintenance inspections and troubleshooting tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
High School or equivalent and satisfactory completion of a two year technical school or equivalent training, such as Navy "A" school or recognized correspondence course is required.

EXPERIENCE:
Four (4) years of progressive experience in a related field of assignment with a minimum of two (2) years experience operating and maintaining communications, video and/or metworking systems and equipment.

COMSEC/Crypto experience highly desirable.

Knowledge of windows based OS and UNIX platforms.

Must be able to use and interpret results of simple and complex test equipment scopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers, multi-meters, BER Testers.

Must be available for occasional travel for operations and meintenance support at other locations throughout the State of Hawaii.

Demonstrated knowledge of elctronics theory and applications with emphasis in communications and network troubleshooting and repair.

Demonstrated knowledge and profiency in reading and interpreting schematic diagrams for troubleshooting and repair.

Must posses the following PC skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
