TITLE: Elementary IMC Clerk
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator
LOCATION: Adams Upper Elementary
DATE: August 21, 2013

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Other duties may be assigned
Work with students to further develop their knowledge of the Media Center under the supervision of the Building Administrator
Support and assist students with their research, reports, assignments and computer work as directed
Receive telephone calls and records messages
Receive, open and distribute mail and materials
Type various forms, correspondence, etc.
Operate and maintain general and media services equipment
Maintain various files
Assist with the clerical functions of ordering, organizing, maintaining inventory record, etc.
Perform clerical activities relating to IMC funds
Contact staff, vendors, etc., as required
Assist students and teachers using the Instructional Media Center
Regular and predictable attendance
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent
Must be fluent with typing, filing, and clerical skills
Proficiency in PC and internet usage required
Working knowledge of basic IMC procedures and common office and media services equipment preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Required to pass (or have previously passed) District clerical testing
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position and be able to move around the school to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. This person will be required to operate a computer and other office machinery. This person will have to position his/her self to pick things up off the floor, reach things in storage supply closets, etc. The person in this position frequently interacts with students, parents, teachers and other administrative staff and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and frequently busy. The employee is frequently required to interact with students, staff, and occasionally with the public, which requires courtesy and discretion. The successful candidate will be able to multi-task and be capable of making independent decisions using sound judgment. At times, the employee may be directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
EVALUATION: Job performance is evaluated in accordance with district guidelines and the applicable collective bargaining language by the district supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The work year is determined by the number of days students are in attendance during the regular school calendar and/or specific program needs. The hourly rate is based on the MEA/WWESA collective bargaining agreement, for a Grade 2/44 week assignment . The daily hours are six and one half hours per day, with two fifteen minute breaks, and a half hour unpaid lunch.
