Role Purpose Statement: Participate and provide policy direction and recommendations for Employee Safety programs. Ensure compliance with company employee safety initiatives.

LOCATION: This position can be based in the following operations facilities in our North Area:

  • Boston, MA (near Boston Logan International Airport)
  • Jamaica, NY (near JFK International Airport)
  • Detroit, MI (Near Detroit Metro Airport)
Key Interfaces: (internal, external)

Internal: Customer Service Centers (CSC), GMs, VP Operations, Employee Safety Proces Owners, Other Americas Region Headquarters (ARH) Departments

External: Customers, Regulatory Agencies, Insurance Companies, Vendors, Attorneys

Employee Safety

Implement action plans for safety process improvement to help CSCs achieve measures to reduce the incidents of on the job injuries in the CSCs

Support, train, coach and guide Employee Safety Process Owners in safety responsibilities and workers’ compensation claim assistance

Coordinate safety programs with all phases of management and employees through communication, training and participation within all departments throughout the CSCs

Conduct periodic safety assessments/audits of CSCs and provide recommended corrective action plans

Emphasize existing and/or develop new safety shorts and training modules, as needed

Administer regulatory compliance with employee safety issues and OSHA recordkeeping

Assist CSC with complex accident investigations as needed

Monitor insurance claim reports and company accident reports for ongoing trends and compile data to identify areas of improvement and opportunity

Participate and support company sponsored initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing


Model corporate values and participate as required in groups, initiative and advisory bodies

Proactively support other departments and functions as the Subject Matter Expert

Required Skills

Bachelor Degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field or equivalent experience required

In addition, five to seven years safety experience required; safety experience in an operational setting a plus

Understanding and knowledge of workers’ compensation insurance programs and claim process

Proven experience in the strong understanding and applicability of knowledge regarding governmental regulations such as OSHA (including Recordkeeping Standards), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Department of Transportation (DOT), and State OSHA Plans where applicable

Understanding of project management systems, maintenance and manufacturing/production standards and issues

Excellent language and writing abilities; Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications

Excellent communication, presentation skills and organizational ability

Ability to interact and train management at all levels

Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
