Responsibilities - CUMC
Endoscopy Technicians are accountable to and perform duties under the direct, on-site supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) when providing delegated patient care. The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for patient care tasks as assigned, which contribute to the health, safety and comfort needs of patients. Performs various environmental duties for the unit as well as duties of a Nursing Assistant as necessary. Performs technical and paraprofessional functions and skills, assists the Physician and/or RN during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and responds to emergency situation as directed by an RN.
A High School Diploma or GED is required. Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification preferred. Two years experience as an Endoscopy Technician/GI tech/GI assistant, in a hospital environment is required. Successful completion of Skills Inventories for Nursing Assistant is required. Must be capable of performing tasks that require dexterity, coordination, strength, flexibility, endurance, as inherent in normal assignment is required.
