Located in the Coastal Stormwater Permitting Section, serves as staff engineering associate, reviewing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans for Stormwater runoff from construction sites subject to the NPDES General permit for Storm Water Discharges from Construction Activities and the SC Stormwater Management and Sediment Reduction Act. Reviews plans and calculations for compliance with requirements of the NPDES General permit and State regulations by checking engineering drawings, calculations, and reports. Provides technical support to DHEC Regional, Compliance, and Enforcement Staff on issues related to stormwater. Position will be under the direct supervision of the Manager of the Coastal Stormwater Permitting Section.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A Master's Degree in engineering from a program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC); or a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from a program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) and one year of experience in environmental engineering; or a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from a program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) and two years of experience as an engineer.
Education or experience in areas of Civil, Environmental, or Biosystems Engineering and/or experience in Stormwater Management and sediment/erosion control.
Employee must have and maintain a valid Driver's License. Some travel may be required which would necessitate operation of a State vehicle. Basic understanding of personal computers and computer systems (including word processing and spreadsheets). Must exhibit good personal appearance and have good oral and written communication skills. Ability to participate in field inspections on construction sites.
