EaglePicher is seeking an Engineer on the intermediate level. Ideal candidate would only posess a Bachelor's in Chemistry or related field with 3-5 years of experience.
This position will be responsible to support activities in cell design, material processing and performance evaluation. This is a hands-on position expected to conceive and perform experiments to understand the interactions between components that govern battery or fuel cell performance. Develop electrode preparation, process and evaluate their performance in half or full cell. Support development and investigate methods to improve electrode materials, catalysts and coatings for us in batteries and make recommendations based on in-depth internal and external analysis of system at hand.
Ongoing Responsibilities include:
•Battery fabrication techniques (coin cells, pouch cells and other configurations).
•Battery testing and characterization techniques including calendar life, cycle life, rate capability, cyclic voltammetry, AC impedance, and other characterization methods.
•Battery abuse testing including electrical, thermal and mechanical abuse.
•Battery degradation analysis by characterizing side reactions, electrode structure, crystallography, and surface analysis techniques.
•Develop test strategies, hardware, and software to validate the performance of battery systems in an R&D environment.
•Competitive product analysis to establish solid position for EPT battery technology.
•Improve utilization of battery testing equipment.
•Experience of Microsoft Office package (incl. Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
•Generates regular progress reports and keeps supervisor informed on a regular basis on testing status.
•Complies with laboratory, State and Federal health, safety, fire and environmental policies. Good housekeeping practices maintained in the working area.
•Candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
•3-5 years of experience only
•Understanding of battery technology.
•Good communication skills that allow for effective team discussions.
