Title: Engineer - General
Location: Falls ChurchVA
Position Description: The Systems Engineer will be assigned to support one or more software products that make up the legacy Electronic Health Record (EHR) for the Defense Health Information Management System (DHIMS) Program Management Office (PMO), within the TriCare Management Activity (TMA). The engineer will act as a technical expert advising the client during all phases of the software development life cycle. In this capacity, the engineers are responsible for:
1) Reviewing all technical documentation related to the product;
2) Ensuring the technical and functional requirements and design align with the Statement of Work (SOW) and meet the overall objectives;
3) Working with developer, product managers and testers; and
4) Providing technical recommendations on application design, architecture and review software code quality.
Good communication and written skills; Minimum bachelor's degree required;
Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain FULL, ACTIVE SECRET Clearance
Required Skills: Good understanding of .NET, C#, ASP.NET, SQL, relational databases, multi-tiered software development, Java/J2EE web application development including SOA, Java Web Services, SOAP, XML, and JDBC with relational databases. UML 2.0 with use case modeling
• Solid understanding of object oriented (OO) analysis and design principles and demonstrated proficiency/expert knowledge in OO design
•Proficient in design of multi-tiered web-based systems
•Ability to work well with others, in a multidisciplinary team, with challenging program schedules, and with determined on-site customers
•2-5 years of System Development Lifecycle experience from an engineering perspective
•4-5 years of system implementation, technical requirements, business requirements and requirements gathering experience
Desired Skills: Proficiency in development of highly efficient real-time distributed software systems desired
•Reviews user and technical documentation to confirm consistency with program operations
• A minimum of eight years of directly applicable engineering experience is required. Significant software design and development experience is preferred
•Consults with supervisor, business analysts, other engineers, and end users to gather information regarding program intent, functions, features, data requirements, input and output requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interface with other systems
• Experience with AHLTA, AHLTA-T, CHCS or other Military Healthcare Products a plus
