PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Performs a lead role in conceptualizing and implementing process improvements. Applies industrial engineering practices to improve operating performance throughout the business. Works closely with other engineering disciplines and all affected departments and personnel in the development and application of process improvements. Manages projects from conception through successful startup and operation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

' Uses formal project management(PM) tools and standards with precision and discipline

' Develops accurate cost estimates

' Contributes to improvement of PM standards and tools

' Regularly communicates project status to all affected parties

' Regularly follows up and expedites to assure project success

' Develops and executes a project plan

' Develops an accurate project scope

' Organizes and facilitates project meetings

' Oversees the application of and compliance with company SOP's, policies and procedures

' Completes all documentation in a timely manner and allows for efficient transition of projects or tasks to others

' Documents and communicates all decisions and assumptions to stakeholders and project team members

' Develops, organizes and maintains project filing for paper and electronic documentation

' Provides clear and concise project communication to affected parties as required

' Assures thorough, complete close out of project documentation

' Develops detailed specifications and bid documents that require vendors to submit complete and comparable bids

' Completes clear and thorough bid evaluations (bid tabs)

' Consistently solicits, negotiates, issues contracts and manages delivery to meet project schedule and quality requirements for the lowest possible cost

' Complies with all company policies and procedures

' Teams with purchasing when appropriate to procure supplies or capital goods

' Secures warranties, manuals, drawings and other appropriate documentation

' Direct and assist in equipment and system startup. Act as company representative for final acceptance

' Develops accurate descriptions of problems or opportunities that show thorough knowledge of the subject matter

' Obtains the necessary level of input from stakeholders

' Accurately defines design limitations and criteria

' Develop multiple solutions beyond the obvious

' Completes optimum designs that address all aspects of the problem or opportunity

' Conducts interactive design with team members

' Creates thorough, complete design documents including drawings and calculations

' Create and present project status presentations to user groups

' Plan, coordinate and execute all forms of work measurement

' Analyze and develop layouts of equipment, workflow, methods and work force utilization using machine parameters, material flow and appropriate data to meet business objectives

' Perform statistical analysis of data, statistical process control and root cause analysis that may be used to support capital justifications, determine labor performance or cost levels and process improvement

' Incorporate manufacturing tools such as just-in-time manufacturing (JIT), cycle time management, quick change setup, product flow, cellular operation, etc. when improving operations

' Integrate human factors such as ergonomics, safety, customer satisfaction and continuous training into all other job functions executed

' Conceptualize and design fixtures, tools, custom equipment and methods needed in order to achieve manufacturing objectives

' Design and implement manufacturing and other business processes, equipment, and plants to achieve business objectives

' Miscellaneous duties and tasks as assigned

' Exemplary attendance and adherence to schedule

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
BS degree in Industrial Engineering

Experience:
Entry level up to 5 years.

Essential and Critical Skills:
Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. Generally relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job during first year. During subsequent years, relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with various levels of staff and outside customers and vendors. Working knowledge to effectively utilize word processing, spreadsheet , database and drafting and design software.
