The Engineer I in Network Operations is a position is responsible for monitoring the network and initiating appropriate response to events. The position also serves as technical support to EPBs business communications services.
The position requires shift work as Network Operations is a 24/7/365 work group.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Troubleshoot are resolve issues related to video, phone, data, email, and all other system that comprise EPBs communications network.
Respond to customer calls for technical support and system alarms to troubleshoot and resolve problems on EPBs communications networks. These calls can be directly from customers or providing assistance to Tech Support for customer issues they receive.
Install Internet communications services for EPB customers. This includes building and tearing down circuits on EPBs legacy fiber network and Tls.
Work with customers to create and maintain domain-related hosting services such as DNS, domain, web, and email.
Monitor and respond to issues with EPBs IPTV service including VOD and other related products.
Implement with network services such as NAT, FTP, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP and email with hands-on working with network equipment (routers, switches, and firewalls).
Create process documentation and training material to assist in training other employee inside and outside the work group on tasks related to internet and email.
Maintain logs, records, documentation to ensure compliance with company and FCC technical requirements.
Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in a related field with 2 4 years related experience is required. EPB may also consider combinations of formal training, certifications, and experience as meeting the requirements for this position.
Must have extensive experience and knowledge of test equipment and be able to accurately troubleshoot communication and Internet issues.
Demonstrated experience TCP/IP, email and DNS configuration and set-up of various desktop operating environments including MS Windows XP, 2000, and ME, Office 2000/02.
Demonstrated work experience with network equipment such as routers, switches and firewalls. Working knowledge of UNIX (Linux, BSD, etc.) operating system is preferred.
Must have excellent customer service, verbal and written communication and analytical skills.
