Operations engineers are needed to conduct acceptance testing for

Juniper SRX security gateways and HP Tipping Point spam prevention system.

The Juniper SRX gateway is an IP network security system (firewall) that protects wireless carriers from security threats. The SRX Series Service Gateways are based on Junos, Juniper's operating system that provides security and advanced protection services. Junos also supports rich routing capabilities and service operations, including critical DNS load balancing so carriers can guarantee high availability even under the highest loads.

Associated with the Juniper SRX firewall is the HP Tipping Point Intrusion Prevention System that detects and prevents spam attacks through real time deep packet inspection of data traffic.

NOTE: Due to strict security protocol, most of the acceptance testing for the HP Tipping Point will be conducted by the client but test engineering support will be periodically requested. Specific experience with HP Tipping Point not required.

The ops engineer will be responsible for completing the Test Objects List (TOL) during the acceptance test phase. The TOL for the Juniper SRX Gateway will be provided by the client.

Acceptance testing will be accomplished in 3 phases:
Configuration testing to ensure readiness of services

Alarms testing to confirm operational trouble-shooting readiness

Nodal failover testing

After the operations engineers complete the configuration, alarm, and failover testing, the test findings will be complied and the Engineering Design Plan (EDP) converted to an operations manual

The engineers need to have experience in the configuration and testing of Juniper SRX gateways in a wireless carrier network. Additionally, IP engineering experience is required although IPv6 certification is not.

The Ops Engineering team will assume responsibility for all acceptance testing prior to commercial launch in the carrier’s live network.

Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
5 - 10 years experience in wireless implementations for a U.S. carrier, engineering degree preferred..

Experience with

alarm, configuration, and failover testing

Experience in acceptance testing of Juniper SRX security gateways, preferably in a wireless data center environment

Experience with Junos operating system, specifically related to security firewalls and DNS load balancing.

IP engineering proficiency is required, IPv4 or IPv6.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work, and coordinate acceptance testing activities to meet tight deadlines

Ability to work under pressure with tenacity and follow through.

Knowledge and use of project management systems/tools, e.g. Microsoft Project.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills
