Northrop Grumman Information Systems Sector is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team of qualified individuals. The position will be located in Fairfax, VA. The software engineer will be responsible to complete software development and unit testing tasks in support of the sustainment of a large web-based application.
The software engineer designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met. Follow detailed lifecycle processes, utilizing best practices for configuration control and development practices. The candidate will work with a team of software professionals to develop new functionality and correct software defects. Maintain and extend JAVA-based applications which utilize Tapestry, Spring, Hibernate, and Struts and Oracle database backend. Perform software development and unit testing tasks in support of the development and sustainment of a large web-based application. Work with a team of software professionals to develop new functionality and correct software defects. Follow detailed lifecycle processes, utilizing best practices for configuration control and development practices. Maintain and extend JAVA-based applications which utilize MVC frameworks such as Tapestry and Struts and Oracle database backend. In addition the candidate will perform analysis, development, execution, and maintenance of Java J2EE applications utilizing a variety of frameworks. Primary responsibilities will be to analyze, develop, code and unit test, document procedures, and write analysis / design documents as necessary. They will work closely with the multiple teams to include: requirements, testing, and operations. All candidates, will demonstrate strong independent problem solving, troubleshooting, analytical and conceptual skills; able to manage multiple tasks and meet scheduled dates. Must be able to adapt in a rapid changing environment, a fast learner and self-starter. Excellent written and communication skills and can work independently and well within groups.
Education Requirements: The candidate must meet the following education and/or related experience requirements:
9 years of hands-on information technology experience
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of hands-on information technology experience
Master’s degree with 3 years of hands-on information technology experience
Ph.D. degree with 0 years of information technology experience
In-depth knowledge of software systems' development lifecycle.
Minimum 5 years of Java J2EE development experience
Minimum of 2 years experience developing on Unix Operating Systems.
Minimum of 2 years experience developing against an Oracle Database.
Minimum of 2 years of experience with one of the following Java Frameworks: Hibernate, Spring, or Tapestry is required.
Candidates must be US Citizens and must be able to obtain a security clearance
Must be able to obtain a DoD Common Access Card
Previous travel system experience
Development in a CMMI Level 3 environment
