COMPETENCY LEVEL - CONTRIBUTING. Ability to conduct routine inspections for compliance with contract agreements, standards/codes and specifications. Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in inspection of various contracts including routine guardrail, long arm mowing, county let resurfacing, and various other maintenance operations. General knowledge of state and/or federal rules and regulations to determine compliance. General knowledge and skill in the use of equipment and software used for inspection. Ability to maintain standard records. Ability to effectively use verbal and nonverbal skills to express routine or simple technical and/or program concepts and related facts in a clear, concise, organized manner. Night and weekend work assignments are possible. Work hours vary and can consist of 60+ hours weekly. Valid driver's license is required. Work may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

General knowledge of surveying and methods, equipment and materials used in highway construction and general knowledge of mathematical functions including algebra, geometry and trigonometry. Skilled in the use of basic office equipment and computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Access and Micro-station to create and manage reports. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, contract provisions, specification and inspection procedures and good communication skills. Must be able to perform outside work, walk rough terrain and on existing highways with varied traffic conditions, and be exposed to inclement weather conditions. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Associate's degree in the assigned discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require certification. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. . . .
