This position will provide engineering consultation and expertise to the SCANA Communications Inc. (SCI) sales team and customers. Duties will include, but are not limited to, acting as an interface/liaison for product development and rollout; researching and resolving complex engineering pre/post sales escalated issues; provide engineering expertise to the development of business opportunities in conjunction with the sales team and other SCI staff; consulting and advising management, staff and customers on the strategy development and consequential engineering requirements; participating in the development of business plans for customer specific services; serving as liaison between customer and telecommunications to ensure design to implementation meets customer needs and expectations within contract agreements.
The selected candidate will also perform sales engineering duties such as designing fiber optic and tower systems, system capability with correct technology, and type of system; conducting cost benefits analysis of sales engineering design to customer expectations; partnering on design and cost estimates; maximizing sales revenue opportunities through system design to achieve the lowest cost, reliable service, and balancing the risk to sales to technical soundness of system; serving as liaison between customer, sales team and telecommunications implementation team to ensure design to implementation meets customer needs and contractual agreements.
The candidate will also serve as the primary point of contact on sales engineering activities and act as a resource for pre sales for carrier, enterprise level and high visibility opportunities as well as escalation of pre and post sales engineering related issues and product development and rollout; serves as a resource on review, design and draft sound engineering solutions; ensures account strategy is correctly set for customer’s technology path and provides engineering expertise and contributes to the development of business plans for customer specific services.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Sales or related field and a minimum of 5 years in communications sales engineering experience.
Must have extensive communications and interpersonal skills both in person, in writing and by phone; must have extensive organizational, time management and project management skills; must be able to work independently and as a team, be able to influence others and explain complex and often ambiguous information in easy to understand terms to all levels of the organization; must have extensive analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, mathematical and creative development skills; must be able to quickly understand the in's and out's of the fiber and towers sales industry and apply it to innovative and creative business development analysis; must have extensive knowledge of computer software products such as Microsoft Office, Access and transport technology (IP, Ethernet, SONET, wavelength), Core Technology (IP, MPLS, SONET), Data Center Design, IP-VPN, routing, access technologies, managed services, optical networking; Strong knowledge and skills in sales presentations, sales cycles, and closing of sales; Strong knowledge of computer engineering practices and principles; must have extensive research, analysis and ability to develop sound business solutions to highly complex issues in to business opportunities for the company; must have knowledge and skills to coach, mentor, train, and develop others; must be able to think creatively, innovatively and "outside the box" to develop successful and sound business recommendations and be able to articulate a global understanding of the industry within company framework.
