CES is working with a client that provides consulting and engineering services to assist customers with their project needs. Their considerable experience in upstream, downstream and utility projects allows them to be an integral part of a project from its conception, through completion and every stage in between. This industry leading organization is currently looking for an Engineering Manager for their Denver office.

POSITION SUMMARY :

This position is responsible for the successful execution of projects, management of technical staff, quality of delivered products, and the management of budgets supporting the engineering group. In this position the Engineering Manager will provide technical guidance, technical assistance and technical review of all tasks conducted by the engineering staff of at least 10 direct reports.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Must have knowledge of oil and gas compressor stations, pumping stations, and gas processing such as amine, dehydration, refrigeration and cryogenic facilities
  • Management of engineering staff or project teams of at least 10 people
  • Proven technical leadership in either mechanical or process design
  • Day to day management of staff behavior, on time performance, attendance, timesheets, and expense reports
  • Carrying out of company policies and programs
  • Training of staff and their development of new skills
  • Annual performance reviews of staff and setting and execution of their goals
  • Coordination with all other technical disciplines for project execution and program deployment
  • Implementation of safety policies, safety training and PPE deployment to staff
  • History of successful proposal generation
  • Must have training in conflict resolution and negotiations
  • Must demonstrate ability to create and maintain a positive team environment
  • Responsible for all phases of planning and execution on major (mega) engineering, procurement, and construction projects
  • Serves as the unifying agent accomplishing direction, coordination, and control of the overall project in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the company
  • Serves as the liaison with the owner on all project matters
  • May manage and coordinate domestic, as well as international projects, alliances, and joint ventures
  • Supervises project personnel through subordinate leaders

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Management experience in the oil & gas industry
  • 10 years engineering or engineering management experience in the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry

TECHNICAL SKILLS :
  • 7 to 10 years or more of progressive responsibility in engineering
  • 4 to 5 years as a senior or lead role on projects
  • In depth knowledge of engineering theories and principles
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel and other Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to lead others in varied and complex tasks
  • Ability to adapt to organizational plans in order to set direction for work teams
  • Ability to provide input and solve difficult/specialized technical issues that require an extensive knowledge related to technical/functional project field
  • Ability to find solutions derived from available resources provided internally and/or externally, including policies and procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and assertiveness, the ability to plan and manage work in an efficient manner, and the ability to work well under stress and time pressures

COMMUNICATION SKILLS :
  • Ability to speak clearly in a way that is easy to understand
  • Ability to write clearly, using appropriate grammar and punctuation
  • Ability to explain “why” and “how” to do something within a broader organization focus
  • Ability to write and lead the development of effective technical reports

PEOPLE SKILLS :
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees and management
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive – but able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities
  • Ability to effectively lead and train other – Team oriented
