Engineering Manager, Operations and Supply Chain

Location: San Mateo, CA

This position is responsible for supporting both the E-commerce and Enterprise Store operations by optimizing current software and systems and developing new system features to meet the growing business needs. The key charge is to optimize and scale operating systems to support the increase of B to B buyers and sellers on the Rafter platform and enhance the logistical software and distribution systems to deliver an exceptional customer experience to the BookRenter End Customer.

The ideal candidate will lead a team that continually challenges status quo and initiates scalable, automated solutions that are reliable, controllable and that deliver an exceptional experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act as the primary business lead for website technical enhancements and strategic initiatives that support supply and logistic integrations.
  • Define and lead the implement future Rafter return software features and solutions
  • Educate and support current sellers to help them implement integrations required to transact on the Rafter Platform.
  • Direct the thought leadership and business requirements in the development of future operating systems.
  • Stay current and apply knowledge of logistical technology to improve the experience of the BookRenter online rental business.
  • Investigate and drive resolution of all technical issues that arise from distributor, supplier, or vendor system integrations.
  • Direct trusted partner relationships to develop and innovate supporting systems and services
  • Create and Develop dashboards and control systems that monitor and report against KPI's, to determine areas for improvement.
  • Initiate continuous improvement across ordering, fulfillment, and reverse logistics by building self managing systems
  • Stay current and apply knowledge of logistical technology to improve the experience of the BookRenter online rental business.
  • Be the subject matter expert on fulfillment, distribution, and logistical integrations
  • Train others on functional area related topics

SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Experience in defining and developing technical solutions
  • High-level of comfort interacting directly with engineers, understanding their need for requirements and business direction
  • Experience directing group discussions to hash out requirements and find solutions
  • Ability to make necessary judgement calls to build/optimize critical systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong desire to learn and be a knowledge area expert
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and management skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Most importantly, the DNA to drive to results

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Minimum of at least 10 years hands on experience as a Product Manager, System Manger or Engineer
  • Experience working in start-up environments
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products or systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical background, experience in product development or engineering
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Examples and at least one sample of effective software or systems delivered in the past
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar is REQUIRED. MS and above preferred.
