The Engineering Sales Representative is responsible for the selling or influencing others, establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships, obtain and analyze information, the ability to make good decisions and solve internal and external customer related problems. Will be responsible for their defined geography and business targets, including relationship percentage, sales numbers, margins and expenses. The customer base includes, but is not limited to Architects, Engineers, Owners and select customers involved in the corrosion and fire protection of steel for both the new construction and maintenance markets. Essential Functions: Contact new and existing customers to discuss and understand their needs, and to explain how these needs could be met by specific products and services Develop and influence project and or master specifications Develop and understand the contract chain for all projects in your pipeline Assist in setting prices and terms of sales and service agreements Identify new prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences Answer customers' questions about the product solutions, performance, availability, uses, and services we offer project timing, selling strategies, marketing data and other information to capture the project Emphasize product solutions based on analyses of customers' needs, and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations Select the correct products or assist customers in making product selections, based on customers' needs, product specifications, and applicable regulations Working with business development team on strategic owners and projects General requirements: Bachelors or technical degree from an accredited university or college 3-5 years sales experience; preferably specific to protective coatings, technical or specification sales Knowledge & experience with coatings industry
