Minimum/General Experience:
Responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot and operate facility equipment to meet the demands of a fast paced research and development team. Understanding of hydraulic systems and electrical wiring diagrams. Basic use of hand tools. Ability to interpret plumbing and instrumentation. Good reading, writing and communication skills (maintains a lab notebook).

Functional Responsibilities: Work with a diverse research team to perform a variety of test work. Maintain a laboratory notebook for all research testing. Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service. Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines. Read and interpret equipment manuals, diagrams, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties. Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. Simple machinist duties and basic welding skills a plus (arc, tig, mig).

Minimum Education:
B.S. in chemistry preferred or high school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship.

Work Environment
  • Generally works in a shop or laboratory
  • Will work with a variety of chemicals, equipment and processes
  • Overtime may be required
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times.
