This is a Journey Level Technician located in the Kings Mountain Construction Office and will serve as project inspector on Roadway and Structure projects. Employee in this position will function as a lead project inspector conducting independent complex inspections and will supervise lower level inspectors performing routine to moderately complex inspections of roadway and structure construction processes and materials to assure compliance with contract agreements, Standards and Specifications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

Evaluate and apply engineering judgment to construction plans, contract provisions, and inspection procedures. Ability to perform independent complex inspections, maintain detailed records, and perform sampling and testing in accordance with established guidelines. Establish positive lines of communication between technicians, engineers, contractors and public. Must be able to work in an outside environment including exposure to hazards on construction sites including heights, lifting heavy objects, highway traffic and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction. Must be able to work nights and weekends as required. Apply safety philosophy and program to all operations. Valid NC Driver's License required. Safety toe shoes required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Associate's degree in the assigned discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require certification. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. . . .
