Designs, develops and tests metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs. Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and a variety of software applications.
Perform structural analysis of commercial and military aircraft components to support division programs. Calculate and extract internal loads, develop free body diagrams of airframe parts and assemblies, perform structural strength analysis and calculate margins of safety. Support development of engineering models and drawings for detail parts and assemblies. Summarize analysis work in clear, concise structural analysis reports for presentation to internal and external customers. Provide technical oversight to small groups of less experienced structural analysts working on the engineering team. Familiarity and experience with classical and computational structural analysis approaches is expected. Successful applicants will be skilled at working in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree plus ten years of related experience OR Associates degree plus 14 years related experience OR HS Diploma/Accredited GED plus 18 years related experience.
Damage Tolerance and Internal Loads Modeling Experience will be considered favorably in the selection of candidates.
