Overview:

The Process Application Data group within the Chevron Information Technology Company provides Enterprise Search solutions to Chevron Operating Companies and Business Units throughout the world. This position is within the Findability team of the Business Analytics Organization.

This role serves as the lead search analyst directing a small team of IT professionals who provide Search Technology consulting, development/enhancement, and analysis and support for moderate to significant global search solutions supporting the Company's business enabling assets.

Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise Team: Supervises work group comprised of 3-4 search analysts, providing clear expectations and performance feedback. Coach and work with employees to optimize performance and develop necessary skills using tools such as PMP, CDP and pay determination. Develop and execute against strategic staffing plan, global recruiting plan, annual PAPD process, and competency development plan for the team.
  • Search Analysis & Requirements: Responsible for business requirements gathering, documentation, and communication of requirements to the design & build teams. Elicits business requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, and use cases, scenarios. Translates high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements, specified in an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by the design/build team, including offshore developers.
  • Testing: Establish and execute procedures that confirm that all features and functions of the search platform meet or exceed defined quality levels and business user's expectations. Testing to focus on the entire solution: functional, integration, performance and environmental testing.
  • User Experience: Monitor the service and recommend and provide specifications for feature or relevancy enhancements that improve user effectiveness. Test feature designs using appropriate usability and relevancy testing techniques.
  • Release Management: Facilitate the release process to ensure new functionality is delivered according to plan. Coordinate changes with development teams, infrastructure services (i.e. Server, Network, Security) to ensure an effective transition to operations. Ensure solution is stable and that all operations assurance criteria are met prior to deployment.
  • Security and Compliance: responsible to ensure that environments operate within established Corporate security and control standards and best practices.
  • Search Analytics and Support: Provides expected levels of search analytics and support which may include: examining user search behaviors and recommending relevancy and user interface improvements, processing service requests or support questions and incidents, investigating & diagnosing (root cause analysis) incidents, and proactive detection of search service issues.
  • Training: Develops end-user documentation and training.
  • Business Interaction: Builds and maintains strong working relationships with business partners. Meets regularly with key business partners to understand their business problems and propose solutions to their information access issues.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information technology or related experience.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Enterprise Search technologies.
  • 2-3 years demonstrated analysis and solution consulting experience, preferably in a Search or Information Management domain. Experience gathering, documenting, and modeling business requirements.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills focused on achieving results.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in FAST for SharePoint or SharePoint native search.
  • Business/Operation Knowledge: Prior experience and/or knowledge of Chevron business processes and operations is desired.
