Kennedy/Jenks Consultants provides engineering and scientific solutions to clients in the water environment and transportation sectors, to industry and business, and to local and federal government agencies. We want to add an experienced, mid-level Environmental Scientist with extensive compliance/permitting experience to join our Irvine, California team.

What you’ll be doing: Working with an environmental team consisting of scientists and engineers solving complex environmental problems. You will be developing business with existing and new clients while providing independent project and client service management in a wide variety of projects. Associated activities will include environmental compliance audits, air and water permit compliance, interfacing with client and agency representatives, preparing independent environmental compliance audits, and assisting in-house staff with regulatory matters. Your assignments will vary from client to client and you will serve as a client service manager. Travel is required on a limited basis to support ongoing environmental projects and business development activities.

What you’ll need: The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, experience with environmental permitting in air and NPDES compliance under State and Federal regulations, a background in assisting with site investigations, and supporting investigations and remedial programs for sites containing hazardous materials and wastes in industrial and commercial facilities. A BS/MS in a general science, chemical, water resources or air resources field is required along with 8-15 years of consulting experience, both office and field. A Certified Permitting Professional Certificate from the South Coast AQMD is desirable. Experience in and eagerness for developing client relationships and business opportunities along with prior project management experience and a keen ability to develop and motivate teams and move projects forward to completion are required.
