Job Title: Environmental Compliance Specialist I

Under supervision, performs routine to somewhat difficult environmental permitting and compliance functions requiring application of scientific theory and concepts related to waste management and water quality permitting and compliance and impact assessment, studies, testing, permitting, auditing, training, inspections, and regulatory review, etc.. Work also includes involvement with the Company’s Environmental Management System (EMS) and Environmental Management Information System (EMIS). Effective performance achieved through application of internal and professional practices to assure compliance with all rules, regulations, permits, and Company environmental stewardship goals while maintaining reliable, cost effective service. Other duties and tasks may be assigned as needed.

Ability to work independently as well as a team member, and to work on multiple assignments simultaneously;
Draws on knowledge, skills, and consults with others to find solutions and alternatives to problems and opportunities;
Readily learns new methods, approaches, and tools.
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, natural/physical science, engineering, or equivalent.
1 or more years of directly related job experience.
Work experience with waste management related compliance under regulatory programs such as federal and state PCB and hazardous and solid waste regulations, and requirements related to DOT hazardous materials, etc., is preferred, along with skills related to environmental sampling, and laboratory report interpretation and analysis.
Additional experience with spill reporting and response, water resources management, and water quality compliance and permitting is a plus.
The position requires an individual with strong organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to and tracking of fine detail
This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
Excellent computer, data management, and interpersonal and business communication skills are required for this position.
Strong writing, computer, and data management skills are a prerequisite for this position
