Chevron Environmental Management Company (EMC) is a key resource to domestic and international OPCOs responsible for providing technical, consulting and project management services for onshore and offshore decommissioning and remediation work.
Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Environmental Project Specialist - Technical Services(Contingent) located in Houston, Texas through February 21st 2013 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Support non-US Global Upstream Business Units with services related to environmental and asset retirement obligations management for onshore oil fields and related facilities.
Serve as a country coordinator overseeing the work of several EMC project managers and contractors on multiple projects.
Consult, directly manage, or support management of environmental and decommissioning projects that are part of EMC Upstream Business Unit International portfolio.
Incorporate project management tools and practices, provide advice or coordinate Chevron-wide internal and external expertise to ensure appropriate strategic and technical best practices are deployed.
Manage the overall contractor safety stewardship program for directly managed projects
Prepare expenditure budgets and manages funds for environmental projects to ensure funding to meet customer and compliance requirements.
Monitor performance of consultants and contractors to ensure that Company requirements for quality, timely performance and costs are met.
Represent and promotes the team's skills and services with Business Unit managers through meetings and other communications interfaces to develop value-added future business for the team.
Advise management and assist legal counsel on challenging international property transfers.
Assists in mentoring of local BU staff
Maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate frequent communications with customers in widely different time zones.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or will accept relevant experience in lieu of degree.
A minimum of 5 years of project management / construction management experience in E&P, gas plants, refineries or similar facilities.
Experience in managing international projects.
Strong cost and schedule estimating experience.
Ability to travel (sometimes at short notice) to countries such as Argentina, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Nigeria, Thailand, or Venezuela up to 25% of the time for periods of 2-4 weeks.
Experience managing environmental site assessment and remediation projects and/or well plugging and abandonment and facility decommissioning projects.
Experience using advanced project control tools and process for environmental and decommissioning projects.
Strong project management experience to build and lead multicultural project teams and complete all work without incident, on schedule and within budget constraints.
Experience in coordination and/or execution of technical work, including the review and/or development of reports, proposals, and designs, monitoring data, strategies, and agency and stakeholder communications.
Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, schedule, staff, and manage multiple work activities (projects) to meet customer requirements and expectations.
Experience in the following to manage projects in international locations independently: Upstream operations, environmental site assessment, remediation, HES due diligence, and facility decommissioning.
Ability to maintain alignment with objectives, performance driven, leads by example, inspires others, accountable and hold other accountable.
Must be comfortable developing relationships with people.
Experience developing and presenting compelling business cases for new activities that have resulted in expanded roles for yourself and/or your organization.
Removes barriers across organizations and customers.
Works collaboratively with others to achieve results.
Ademic or certifications of P.E., E.I.T. or P.G.
Experience with well plugging and abandonment.
Experience in executing HES due diligence related to acquisitions, divestitures, and lease transfers.
Experience with contractor safety management processes and BBS.
Experience with upstream facilities and business.
