T o perform entry-level environmental science/engineer tasks including field observations testing of soil soil vapors and groundwater project documentation and reporting assistance

1 Work independently performing observations and testing services in the following areas
a Perform organic vapor testing of soils during drilling and excavations observations
b Collect soil soil vapor and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis
c Collect water level data perform slug testing
d Prepare Site maps for reporting
e Prepare field logs of geologic identification of sediments and rock
f Report field test results
2 Assist in laboratory tests of other construction materials
3 Maintain project data prepare results documentation and assist with report preparation
4 Communicate with project manager
5 Communicate with client contractor and other parties involved with project including architect structural engineer or other consultants
6 Maintain testing and sampling equipment in a clean working order
7 Follow all safety procedures
8 Maintain an acceptable driving record

The Environmental Division is one of four divisions currently located in the St Paul facility and is accountable to the Senior Vice President The Division is comprised of four departments differentiated along regional and technical lines The Environmental Science/Engineer Intern will operate within the Environmental Department which has a science/engineering consulting focus
The services provided within the Division are performed to the standards of industry including ASTM MPCA and EPA as well as state laws governing professional services All services will be performed in accordance with AETs QA/QC procedures The Environmental Science/Engineer Intern will have an instrumental position in developing the expertise and efficiency of the department including training and service orientation The objective is to provide high quality services at a fair price while maintaining costs to provide plan margin
1 Performing environmental field tests of soil and groundwater - expected to consume 65% of the work day
2 Preparing portions of environmental reports tables figures data analysis drafting - expected to consume 20% of the work day
3 Assist work coordinators in laboratory tests of other construction materials when available and necessary - can consume up to 20% of the work day
4 Communication with project manager - expected to consume 10% of the work day
5 Laboratory maintenance - expected to consume 5% of the work day

1 Recent graduate or student working on Bachelor’s or Masters degree in geological civil or environmental engineering geology earth science environmental science chemistry or biology
2 Current certificate or ability to attend 40-hour OSHA training for Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (Hazwoper)
3 Ability to frequently lift 30-60 pounds from the floor to 2 feet Occasionally lift 60-100 pounds from the floor to 2 feet with or without reasonable accommodation
4 Travel within and beyond Minneapolis St Paul Metro area for projects
