Permanent, direct hire opportunity available for an experienced Environmental Specialist. Position will be located in Louisiana and will require relocation. Qualified candidates must have 3+ years experience within the natural gas and/or oil industries. No exceptions. Pipeline permitting experience and regulatory knowledge is very important. Primarily responsible for environmental permitting and compliance associated with construction and operation of midstream natural gas and liquids pipeline infrastructure (pipelines, compression, and associated treatment, processing, and measurement facilities). Essential Duties/Responsibilities: *Prepares, coordinates, or supervises the preparation/completion of technical environmental resource reports, resource agency consultations, environmental permit applications, and acquisition of applicable environmental clearances and approvals. *Interprets environmental regulations and assists in the development of Company guidelines to ensure completion of projects in compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations. *Works cooperatively with project engineering, construction, and operations staff to complete project planning activities, assess and relay applicable environmental permit/approval requirements, and maintain project budgets and schedules. *Assists in environmental inspection and monitoring of Company construction projects. *Develops, facilitates, and presents training on various environmental related topics to company and contractor personnel. *Job requires 25% or more of travel time. Requirements Education: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related field. Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience performing environmental permitting and compliance activities within the oil and/or natural gas industry. Equivalent, relevant experience and/or education may be considered. Additional Knowledge, Skills, Licenses/Certifications, Abilities & Personal Characteristics (KSLAPs): Able to demonstrate thorough knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permit requirements relevant to midstream natural gas and oil facility development (e.g., National Environmental Policy Act [NEPA], Clean Water Act Section 401 and 404, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, etc.). Demonstrated experience in the development of environmental permit applications and documents pertaining to the authorization of interstate natural gas facilities regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), including FERC Environmental Reports, Environmental Assessments/Environmental Impact Statements, and other relevant environmental permits. Ability to effectively engage in resource agency consultations and accurately communicate project scope; receive stakeholder/agency input; and provide informed assessments and determinations leading to positive project outcomes that balance resource impact minimization with project goals and objectives. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to competently represent the Company in a variety of settings, including public forums, and through various media, including telephone, e-mail, and written correspondence. Solid time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks/projects with tight deadlines. Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information, work effectively under pressure, and exercise independent judgment and discretion in dealing with a variety of individuals and situations. Detail oriented, resourceful, and self-motivated with strong initiative and interpersonal skills. Positive, flexible, and team-oriented approach with a willingness to accept a variety of tasks and assignments, as necessary, to meet project deadlines and achieve positive results. Strong proficiency in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) software. Ability to quickly learn other company software. Able to provide a valid state driver's license, present and maintain a good driving record and to operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies. Ability to travel on a regular basis. Physical Requirements: Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, balance, climb, crawl, reach, stand, walk, pull, lift, use fingers and grasp on a daily basis. Able to travel long distances in a motor vehicle. Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop and other office related equipment. Able to sit and/or view a personal computer monitor or laptop screen for extended periods of time. Working Conditions: Able to perform work indoors in an office environment, as well as outdoors. Able to travel up to 25% of the time. Able to work with moderate daily pressure to meet deadlines. Able to work out of doors with some exposure to all weather conditions. Safety Sensitive.
