Responsible for preparing, distributing and presenting educational materials associated with the stormwater program to meet the Virginia Stormwater Management Program (VSMP) permit requirements. Responsible for inspecting, and enforcing the Stormwater regulations set forth in the County code as they apply to Stormwater Illicit Discharges. Screens, samples, and monitors stormwater for testing purposes. Other duties include preparing educational material for the stormwater and floodplain program, and working with website. Incumbent may work a flexible schedule Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:15 am and 5:00 pm 30 hours per week.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate degree in engineering, or related field and 2 to 4 years of experience in environmental engineering, computers, or a related field.
Knowledge of local Stormwater Ordinance requirements related to Stormwater regulations and Virginia erosion and sediment control measures desired.
Must be able to read, review, and interpret as-built drawings, blueprints, maps, and drawings accurately.
Updates the Stormwater Management website as required.
Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Personal computer experience using Microsoft Office software required.
This position is considered an Essential Position (County designation as ALPHA) which requires the employee to report to work during inclement and extreme weather conditions, often outside normally scheduled work hours, or as notified by a supervisor.
DMV records check conducted prior to employment.
Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment, engineering machinery and tools including a level, large copier machine, computer, calculator, drafting instruments, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Physical demand requirements are for Light Work.
