Part Time Event Planner/Assistant
Location: Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

We are seeking a strong, enthusiastic, and extremely organized individual to assist Make My Day Event Planning in the planning and execution of corporate and social events and weddings in the Delaware/Maryland area. You will be involved in each aspect of the event planning and coordinating process.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Plan and implement high quality events. This implementation includes authority, but is not limited to; negotiate contracts, select venues, schedule event dates, and design concepts for events that are befitting of the occasion and engaging to prospective attendees. Serve as a principal point of contact for employer for event vendors and sponsors, make independent decisions about all aspects of event logistics and ensure that contractual and financial responsibilities are met. Manage expenses for events in his/her portfolio. Assist events team members with event logistics and tasks for large events. Manage event staff on site, including contract workers (caterers, musicians, tenting companies etc.) and event staff working at the location. Manage both internal staff and contract staff hired to work on site at the event. Negotiate vendor contracts and ensure that each event in his/her portfolio stays within the budget that has been allocated by your employer and clients. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 years experience in meeting and/or event industry. Experience with protocol and etiquette, especially with entertainment, business, and government dignitaries. Knowledge of special event planning as demonstrated through diverse portfolio of quality events for which candidate was primarily responsible. Detail oriented with excellent planning, organizational and coordination skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the Internet. Ability to work under pressure, respond positively to deadlines and diplomatically to crises. Ability to work part-time on weekdays, evenings, weekends and travel, as needed. A flexible schedule is required.
