The Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College seeks an Executive Assistant to join our team in January 2013.

The Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts is an architecturally bold multi-venue performing arts center in the Hudson Valley designed by Frank Gehry and opened in 2003. The Fisher Center presents and produces programs in orchestral, chamber, and jazz music and theater, dance, and opera by American and international artists. The Center is also home to Bard College's Theater and Performance Program and Dance Program and serves partner organizations and programs such as the American Symphony Orchestra, the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, the Bard College Conservatory of Music, the Center for Curatorial Studies, and the Bard Music Festival. The Center is known for SummerScape, its acclaimed multi-genre summer festival. The next five years will be a time of programmatic growth for the Fisher Center, with an ambitious new program of commissioning, residencies, and presenting launched in fall 2012. Reporting to the Senior Producer and working closely with the Director of Theater Programs, the Executive Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the leadership of the Fisher Center, including office management, artist relations, and project assistance.

The Executive Assistant’s primary responsibilities include: assisting with arrangements for resident artists and other visitors; conducting correspondence on behalf of the Director of Theater Programs and the Senior Producer; managing calendars for the Director of Theater Programs and the Senior Producer; assisting with workflow, task management, and project status tracking; assisting with Fisher Center information technology (IT) matters; preparing and distributing meeting agendas and materials; assisting in communications with the Fisher Center Advisory Board; serving as the front office manager and receptionist for the Fisher Center; answering the main administrative phone line; reviewing and answering general Fisher Center correspondence; facilitating cross-department and cross-program communication; resolving day-to-day administrative and operational issues between programs and departments; managing project files and archives; conducting research; assisting with special events; and running occasional errands.

The successful candidate will have: excellent computer and telephone skills; excellent writing skills; a high level of organization and attention to accuracy; ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines; knowledge of the performing arts; discretion in handling confidential matters; schedule flexibility (work on nights and weekends will be required); and the ability to sit, drive, perform telephone and computer input functions, and lift up to 25 lbs.
