The Community Health Fund is seeking an energetic, seasoned, hands-on, highly ethical
foundation executive ready to work with the governing board to continue conducting a highly
respected health grant program. Comfortable working in a two-person staffed foundation
with an accessible, innovative, proactive, and community-based approach to grantmaking is
The CHF is recognized as a local leader in funding multi-year health initiatives, and grants
between $1 and $2 million annually to achieve its mission of improving the health and
well-being of medically uninsured and underserved populations. The CHF is a supporting
organization to John Muir Health (JMH), a large nonprofit health system that gives the CHF
its community benefit mission and provides all operating and grantmaking funding as well as
manages most of the CHF’s financial transactions and systems. Thus, the key functions to
be performed by the executive, and qualifications that would prepare a candidate for this
combined leadership/grantmaking position, are more extensively grantmaking and
Candidates must have at least 5 years of in depth leadership experience in the following areas:
Working closely with a Governance Board on strategic planning
Organizing and implementing grant making

It includes John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek (572-bed acute care facility) , which serves as Contra Costa County's only designated trauma center and John Muir Medical Center, Concord (313-bed acute care facility).Together, they are recognized as top centers for neurosciences, orthopedics, cancer care, cardiovascular care and high-risk obstetrics. Other areas of specialty include general surgery, robotic surgery, weight-loss surgery, rehabilitation and critical care.
