Responsible for leading group exercise classes including but not limited to step, spin, aqua, sculpting, seniors, yoga/Pilates and kids fitness.
Experience: One year, preferably in a Wellness setting.
AFAA Certification or comparable certification (to be determined by Coordinator).
Special Qualifications: must actively demonstrate ability to lead participants in a safe, effective class workout.
Must possess knowledge of Exercise Science and basic physiology.
AFAA Certification preferred. Instructor has six month grace period to bring certification current
Must supervise aerobic staff focusing on performance, safety and productivity
Attends continuing education workshops to keep skills updated and certification current.
Attends hospital meetings and training sessions deemed mandatory by HCA.
Must know contraindications for certain exercises that would cause injury to a client.
Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to interact with clients.
Must be able to modify class to accommodate varying levels of fitness and special populations.
Essential Functions: Must be able to lift 50 pounds from the floor. Must be able to sit, stand or walk; bending, reaching, twisting. Must be able to effectively communicate through verbal means. Must have motor coordination and manual dexterity. Must have mental acuity with decision making skills.
