The Food and Nutrition Services Worker performs a variety of tasks that facilitate the provision of food services and nutrition support to patients, employees and visitors. These duties include:
Account for all receipts at shifts end. Balances receipts and monies for the sale of food items. Operates cash register and prepares cash reconciliation reports. Takes cash register readings after each meal. Works on the grill.
Checks badge to provide appropriate employee discount. Checks closed containers in an effort to ensure sales accuracy. Accurately handles cash transactions; requests change as necessary.
Prepares, serves, and replenishes hot/cold foods as necessary. Assists in the set-up and break down of all food items within the physicians dining room and cafeteria. Monitors dining areas and assists in clean-up throughout shift. Responsible for proper handling, labeling and storage of food/non-food items. Completes cleaning, including trash removal, mopping floors, cleaning equipment.
Responsible for HACCP documentation, as appropriate. Performs all heavy duty cleaning and sanitizing including: food wells, beverage dispensers, tables, removal of trash, and vacuuming of all carpets. Operates automatic dish machine, including lifting racks on and off conveyor. Washes pots.
Although a majority of a cashier's time is spent within the retail areas, this individual is expected to work in other kitchen areas as assigned. Works on cafeteria line when needed.
Prepares patient trayline for service (pour tea, sack silverware and bread, mart trays. Must be able to read menus and understand basics of therapeutic diets. Pushes food carts to patient units and passes trays to patients.

Job qualifications include:
Must have excellent customer service skills and previous experience as a cashier preferred.
