Support the Fraud & Risk Mitigation Manager in utilizing a Fraud & Risk Mitigation framework that complements the overall Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework designed to identify, analyze, respond to and monitor internal and external fraud risks across various product and process lines and to assist VyStar in achieving its 1) mission to provide quality service and to maintain fiscal soundness and 2) strategic goals and objectives.
Assist the Fraud & Risk Mitigation Manager by performing analysis and implementing regular information reporting on fraud activities to assist in identifying emerging trends, recommending procedural and/or operational changes as well as risk-based decision making processes. The Fraud Analyst reports directly to the Fraud & Risk Mitigation Manager to support organizational prominence, strong communication reporting channels and to recognize the key importance of fraud risk management as it relates to VyStar’s ERM framework.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Fraud & Risk Mitigation Framework: Support the Fraud & Risk Mitigation Manager in developing and maintaining a Fraud and Risk Mitigation framework throughout VyStar.
Fraud Risk Monitoring/Reporting: Responsible for providing independent, enterprise-wide assessments and reporting to assist the Fraud & Risk Mitigation Manager with compiling reports for review on a set frequency and in concert with the ERM framework.
Risk Intelligent Culture: Assist the Fraud & Risk Mitigation Manager in developing, promoting and implementing a risk intelligent culture, with strong collaborative relationships across the organization. Help to create and foster an increased understanding and awareness of business line managers’ responsibility for risk assessment and management activities in their daily decision making processes and procedural guidance as it relates specifically to fraud related risks. In concert with the ERM function and Fraud & Risk Mitigation Manager, provide advice and consult with line managers to support more information risk-based thinking and decision making skills.
Fraud & Risk Mitigation Function: Establish strong collaboration and sharing of expertise/knowledge between team members and the other areas under ERM and in conjunction with Internal Audit’s assurance services. Ensure practices are in place to sufficiently protect VyStar’s various products, channels and processes from increased risk of fraudulent activity. Specifically, responsible for the following day-to-day functions and activities:
Develop and provide analytical information, statistical models, problem resolution and expertise to the Fraud & Risk Mitigation department for all products and process channels on an ongoing basis.
Identify, monitor and report emerging fraud trends and patterns of activity to drive proactive prevention and monitoring the effectiveness of various risk responses, using business intelligence information.
Investigate, report and analyze potential electronic (e.g., internet, mobile, wireless, remote deposit capture, ATM, plastic card, etc.) banking fraud. Identify weaknesses and solutions to minimize emerging fraud channel.
Build a data repository to correlate alerts to investigative cases and report potential suspicious activity (e.g., VyQAR). Collect potential identity theft information from across the organization to support Identify Theft Red Flag program and regulatory requirements.
Ensure adequate documentation exists to support recommended changes to policies, procedures, operational practices, thresholds, etc.
Assist business line managers to effectively manage emerging and existing fraud related risks to ensure member and VyStar related losses are mitigated. Provide risk-based consultative advice on product/channel design, development and deployment. Provide recommendations on reducing potential/actual fraudulent activity.
Assist Fraud & Risk Mitigation Manager in enhancing and providing applicable fraud training throughout the organization.
Develop/maintain professional colleague network and individual knowledge to keep abreast of existing/emerging fraud trends within the financial institution industry to proactively mitigate similar risks to VyStar.
Assist Fraud & Risk Mitigation Manager with balancing assigned G/L accounts, monitoring actual vs budgeted amounts and preparing various management month-end reports.
Work closely with the Fraud & Risk Mitigation Manager and overall Fraud Team to promote a sense of teamwork and an enterprise-wide proactive risk mitigation approach.
Proactively keep the Fraud & Risk Mitigation Manager and/or Chief Risk Officer informed of notable activities/situations.
Ensure deadlines are met consistently and follow-up activities are completed timely.

Experience and Education:
EDUCATION AND JOB REQUIREMENTS – Professional
Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, Criminology or related business field required. Direct financial institution work experience in a fraud related field required. Education requirements may be substituted as follows: 3 years work experience for each 1 year of post high school education. A professional fraud related certification (e.g., CFE) is preferred. Obtain necessary continuing professional education hours to retain professional certification(s) as applicable and continuously build individual knowledge. Participate in related professional organizations to build professional network and subject matter knowledge.
Maintain an understanding of VyStar’s overall business plan objectives, long-term strategic goals and current financial results. Solid knowledge and experience with Plastic Card investigative requirements (e.g., Reg. E, VISA Rules, etc.) is desired as well as knowledge of rules and regulations governing various types of electronic transactions and distribution channels. Competent PC skills and working knowledge of various software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, etc.) is required. Experience with direct customer/member contact in a financial institution is desired.
