This position is located in the Acute and Home Care/CLIA Branch of the Licensure and Certification Section of the Division of Health Service Regulation. The primary duties of the Facility Survey Consultant I require an individual to function as a member of a survey team or independently which surveys hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, cardiac rehabilitation program, abortion clinics, mental health hospitals, end stage renal disease facilities, and other programs regulated by the Section for compliance with State licensure requirements and Federal Medicare requirements. In carrying out these duties this position is involved in significant communication with home care agency staff, patients, and complainants on a routine basis. The position is Raleigh office based and requires extensive travel, including overnight travel to facilities located throughout North Carolina. Flexibility to work alternative hours as needed is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
This position requires strong management skills, and the ability to function as a team member, as well as independently. The applicant must also possess strong oral and written communication skills, analytical and investigative skills, sound judgment, and the ability to make objective decisions. Candidates must also have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and other programs, specifically Microsoft Word.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Nursing - Bachelor's degree in nursing from an appropriately accredited institution, and three years of experience in nursing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be currently licensed in as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina .
Strong preference is given to applicants with prior experience in the hospital, surgical care settings, end-stage renal disease and/or with regulatory experience. Preference is also given to candidates who have graduated from a four-year college or university with a degree in nursing and four years of experience in nursing, with two years at the supervisory level.
