Provide licensed professional management in planning, budgeting, scheduling, programming, design and construction and technical code review of new and existing University facilities.
Provide design programming assistance, and technical expert review of professional consultant designs, to campus users on specialized research facility projects. Communicate with project stakeholders in a timely, consistent and reliable manner. Assist with design and code compliance of teaching and research labs and other higher education facilities to promote and support growth. Provide excellent customer service to meet client needs and University standards. Manage multiple projects simultaneously to successful completion and meet demanding schedules. Coordinate and plan activities to ensure critical path and schedule for projects are maintained to meet appropriate completion deadlines. Prepare preliminary budgets based on knowledge of existing conditions and codes, with sufficient client information and minimal design, to provide reasonable project budgets. Establish/maintain overall schedule based on developed scope and budget. Ensure projects are designed and constructed within established time constraints and existing budget while meeting client needs and ensuring code compliance. Procure services of professional service providers and help administer contracts and agreements. Ensure all parties meet obligations of the contract documents. Stay current with information and relating to project mgmt, legislation, codes, building methods, materials and design/construction standards impacting project execution. Demonstrate leadership and management skills; provide professional direction for the project team to achieve common goals and successful projects. Serve on committees, task forces, etc., to improve the departmental mission of project delivery. Represent Project Management and Construction Services at University events.

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. 3 years experience in an engineering role related to facilities management, facilities design, or construction management of facilities. Current Texas Professional Engineer Registration or ability to test for PE registration within 1 year of hire. Valid Class "C" Operator's Driver's License (or other states' equivalent for driving a personal vehicle) or higher. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. 5 years experience in programming, design and management of lab construction projects in a university or commercial setting or related field. Strong computer skills, including spreadsheets, word processing, and scheduling software. Understanding of construction specs. 5 years increasingly responsible experience in project management of: institutional renovation projects, new construction, and maintenance projects for owner-clients. Senior level experience in management of lab construction projects in university environment. Project Management Professional Certification (PMP). Familiarity with materials and methods of institutional design and construction, including labs, classrooms, faculty offices, other University facilities. Knowledge of building codes, including National Fire Protection Assoc (NFPA) 101, Int'l Building Code (IBC), TX Accessibility Standards (TAS)and ADA. Experience in preparation and delivery of presentations, proposals and estimates. Ability and experience in effective communication with upper management, clients, project team members and construction personnel; managing projects with minimal supervision and in coordinating with project stakeholders.
