Demonstrated experience in educating students, with a prior faculty appointment or by way of clinical background as a Physician Assistant or other healthcare professional with expertise in an academic area of specialization contained within the Health Professions Division. Appointment to the rank of assistant professor requires completion of professional training, which in most disciplines will be a terminal degree (usually the earned doctorate),and the clear promise of a successful career in teaching, scholarship, and service. Appointment to the rank of associate professor normally requires a record of substantial success in teaching, scholarship, and service. Appointment to the rank of professor requires a record of distinguished scholarship and outstanding teaching ability, evidenced by recognized professional productivity in the field(s) of specialization.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Teach undergraduate or graduate Physician Assistant course(s) in the classroom as assigned. 2. Select teaching and evaluation strategies appropriate to the students and setting. 3. Present ideas clearly. 4. Create a climate that is conducive to learning. 5. Provide and maintain a reliable schedule of office hours for student advising, tutoring, remediation, and consultation. 6. Participate in department, college-wide, and university-wide committees and meetings. 7. Engage in curriculum development related to current and new courses. 8. Maintain a personal professional development plan, which may include research or other creative activities, to assure growth and currency within the academic field. 9. Display behavior consistent with professional ethics. 10. Adaptability and willingness to teach courses and/or perform special duties as assigned. 11. Participate in state and/or local community service that is a recognized form of career development. 12. Mentor and/or orient new faculty as assigned. 13. Other duties may be assigned by the Department Chair, Associate Dean or Dean of the College of Allied Health. 14. May manage subordinates in the classroom or laboratory. 15. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the University's policies and applicable laws.

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. 6. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.).
Major (if required):
1. Physician Assistant or related Health Professional. 2. Master's Degree in related area of specialization. 3. Five (5) years of related experience and/or training, including clinical experience. 4. Must obtain a Doctoral Degree in appropriate area of specialization within seven years of employment.
