he Department of Medical Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in Food Animal Medicine.

This will be an integrated position that bridges the disciplines of large animal internal medicine and food animal production medicine. The focus of this position will be in the areas of health management, herd-level problem investigations, and responsible use of pharmaceuticals on commercial dairy farms.

This tenure-track position will require significant accomplishments in both teaching and research. The person selected will be expected to develop a research program in an area related to dairy cattle health and compete for extramural grants. The successful candidate will be expected to provide 14 to 18 weeks of clinical teaching per year in some combination of Food Animal Production Medicine clinical rotations, field investigations, and on-farm teaching sessions. While there will be no assigned duty weeks in the Large Animal Hospital, it will be important to develop a working relationship with the internal medicine faculty and maintain internal medicine skills. In addition to clinical teaching, there will be expectations for delivery of 6-8 lectures and 4-6 teaching laboratories per year.

The position will allow for collaboration with dairy-oriented faculty within the School and across the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, one of the largest and most active dairy programs in world. The dairy-oriented faculty within the School of Veterinary Medicine are recognized internationally for innovative clinical teaching, dairy herd problem solving, and applied research focused on dairy cattle health and welfare.
