Job Summary: This individual would aid program staff by facilitating pro-social activities, transporting clients, supervising visits, and providing general assistance to the regional office. Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.

Basic Responsibilities

Case Management Support (90%)
  • Assist the Family Specialist with implementation of the treatment and/or independent living plan and attainment of the case plan goal per the direction of the Clinical Supervisor and Family Specialist
    • Facilitate activities related to the needs of the child/youth educational, recreational, and vocational, etc.
  • Meet with treatment team to review cases and offer input as requested
  • Advocate for child and family’s needs and best interests
  • Maintain appropriate and required documentation of client interaction
  • Secure information for master files as needed
  • Research resources
  • Facilitate visitations and transports as directed
Agency Support and Enhancement (5%)
  • Maintain a working relationship with placing agency workers of children and families with whom they work
  • Be positive liaison between White’s and placing agencies and the public in general

Professional Development (2%)
  • Fulfill reading assignments
  • Attend workshops and other opportunities for professional growth
  • Use Performance Review as a professional development tool

Other (3%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager, Clinical Supervisor, or Vice-President of Family Services

Skill, Supervision, Knowledge and Ability

  • The Family Specialist Aide-ISP must be an individual with a Christian and professional commitment to work with children and youth of all ages, their families, the referring agency, community professionals, and the White's Family Services’ treatment team
  • Must be dependable, well organized and an effective time manager
  • Must be a safe driver
  • Must be able to follow directions-written and verbal
  • Must be mature, emotionally stable, and be able to work with children of various ages and behaviors
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Must maintain appropriate hygiene and attire
  • Must be personable, genuine, empathetic and emotionally connected in helping children, relating with families, and working with placement agency
  • Must have reasonable assertiveness skills to ensure mandates by courts or referring agencies are followed
  • 10. Must clearly, concisely, and professionally communicate ideas through good verbal and writing skills

    11. Must be a “team player' – this person needs to enjoy working closely with other staff members and must demonstrate flexible, adaptive, and positive in his/her actions

    Physical Demands of Position

    1. Must be able to drive long distances for foster home visitation, court hearings, visitation, etc.

    2. Must be able to lift children into car seats, load and unload wheelchair, etc, or load and unload suitcases and boxes containing foster child(ren)’s personal belongings

    Working Conditions

  • At times will work in Regional offices interfacing with various office staff persons
  • Will be responsible for transporting, caring for, and managing behaviors of one or more foster children of varying ages and behaviors for various lengths of trips and at varied times during the day.
  • Will use staff or personal vehicle (if personal vehicle is used, reimbursed mileage will be provided)
