Work actively with Sales Consultants in the Territory and Region, providing technical support for the sales process and providing support, training and service to customers after the sales. Give presentations, workshops and product support that demonstrate advanced understanding of LI-COR ® Biotechnology proteomic products and their applications to research problems in biology. Involvement in testing new products and protocols.
The ideal candidate would live in the San Diego metro area.
Education: Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, genetics or related technical discipline; or M.S. in disciplines noted above with 8 years of industrial or academic experience in a field of direct commercial interest to the Company; or B.S. in disciplines noted above with 10 years of industrial or academic experience in a field of direct commercial interest to the Company.
Experience & Skills:
LABORATORY: Performed independent research in molecular biology, DNA sequencing, genetic analysis, or protein chemistry; 3 - 5 years of laboratory experience after the degree is preferred.
INSTRUMENTATION AND SOFTWARE: Excellent aptitude for and a minimum of 2 - 3 years experience working with sequencing and/or infrared imaging instrumentation, computers and software, including analysis software packages or other analytical software used to evaluate and present biological data. High degree of knowledge in Windows operating system and computer networking required.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent communications (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to teach, train and present technical information in varied situations, one-on-one to large formal meetings. Enjoys and works well with people.
Position is based at a field location outside Lincoln, NE.
Moderate to high travel required
SALES SUPPORT: Give technical presentations for customers, including seminars and workshops. Conduct on-site product demonstrations including: help with logistics, install and start-up of systems, run samples, and adapt, optimize, or develop protocols to meet customer requirements. Participate in trade shows as needed. Help find new sales prospects.
INSTALLATION AND TRAINING: Travel to the customers site to set up and verify the operation of LI-COR ® Biotechnology products. Provide instrument, protocol and software training to users. Ensure that the customer is competent and proficient in the use and operation of LI-COR ® products. Conduct and/or participate in customer training courses.
CUSTOMER SUPPORT: Take calls from customers and sales personnel and provide technical assistance by phone or on-site regarding the application, use, and maintenance of LI-COR ® Biotechnology instruments, chemistries, reagents, protocols and software. Provide basic instrument troubleshooting and repair. Provide necessary follow-up and support to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction.
PROTOCOL DEVELOPMENT: Work with in-house Application and Research Scientists in product and protocol development, and the writing and review of technical manuals, notes and scientific publications as needed.
MARKETING: Gather information about customer needs, suggestions for product improvements, new product ideas, user issues, and competitive activities, for use by LI-COR ® Management.
