Provide career, educational coaching and case management services to 1199SEIU union employees at participating healthcare worksites throughout Eastern Massachusetts

Establish and cultivate relationships with key union and management representatives at assigned work sites; work as a team with staff in Massachusetts and regional staff throughout the Northeast

Work within labor and management context to develop site-based operations that best support employees accessing services

Coordinate the marketing, recruitment, admissions, counseling, and member services activities for tuition assistance enrollment at participating work sites

Case manage tuition assistance students ensuring participants are aware of all program deadlines, information needed to complete the application process, and their benefits

Oversee site-based training and educational programs offered through the 1199SEIU Training and Employment Fund; keep abreast of industry and union issues

Identify and establish relationships with potential educational providers for a range of programs; English for Speakers of Other Languages and Adult Basic Education (ESOL/ABE), skills training, career ladder programs, etc

Determine the capacity of potential educational providers to provide quality educational programs and services to eligible members

Partner with the Training and Upgrading Fund (TUF) staff and Labor/Management Committee members to design, develop, implement and evaluate training programs

Liaison with contracted educational providers to evaluate and monitor the quality and performance of programs

Provide career and educational counseling services to members, work site-based outreach, marketing and intake sessions; oversee and deliver career development workshops and general member services

Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management


Bachelor’s degree in Education, Career Counseling or equivalent years of experience required; plus

Minimum two (2) years experience in adult higher education or workforce development required

Knowledge of adult education principles and best practices, case management and career coaching

Knowledge of career and educational pathways and degree programs in the health care field

Basic skill level of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred

Demonstrated accomplishment and experience in designing, planning, implementing and evaluating education and training programs; experience preparing and managing budgets

Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and teamwork skills

Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work under pressure

Strong attention to details and ability to work well independently

Car required as well as ability to drive and travel to various locations in the Massachusetts area

Available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed

Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality
