NORC at the University of Chicago is currently seeking outgoing, persuasive people to conduct in-person interviews within the homes of Native American residents in the King Cove Village. This national research study will focus on an overview of the housing needs and conditions of tribal families. Interviewers must gain the cooperation of the residents of sampled households and maintain strict confidentiality standards

Field interviewers get to work on a project that will affect government policy and meet interesting people while conducting the in-person interviews on an important topic.

Interviewers administer a structured questionnaire in/person in scientifically sampled households. The interview itself takes about 45 minutes to administer. The survey collects data about the respondents' housing conditions and needs.

This information is gathered carefully and systematically so careful record keeping is required. Interviewers will be well trained and supported by Field Managers. Field Period- July 15 –October 15, 2013.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree or college coursework in social science or related field preferred)

Previous data collection or field interviewing experience highly preferred

Familiarity and comfort using computers and accessing the internet is strongly preferred

TRAINING:
Successful applicants will attend a paid training by phone. Attendance at all assigned training sessions is mandatory.

AVAILABILITY:
Successful applicants must be available to work from 20 - 35 hours/week on a flexible schedule including some week nights and week-ends. Work hours will vary with the progress of the data collection effort throughout the field period. This is an interesting position for individuals with flexible availability when residents are expected to be home most frequently–evenings and weekends and (less frequently) weekday hours.

In addition to meeting specific job requirements, employees hired for this position must present evidence of their identity and authorization to work in the United States (I9 documentation) and must undergo a background check.\
