POSITION SUMMARY / OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY : Drives sales, increases category share, increases brand awareness, and influences market share and mind-share for the client in a tactical environment by building relationships at the store level and up. Maintains current industry-specific detailed technical knowledge to provide one-on-one and small group training on assigned products. Forges synergy by maintaining effective business relationships at all levels with a team-based culture of inclusion. Uses rigid ethical considerations to guide decisions and act in accordance with Company values. Exceptional skills in customer service, time management, self-confidence, flexibility, analysis, accountability, practicality, presentation, and communication in assigned region.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
Builds and maintains long-term trusting relationships with retail store associates, retail management, and client management.
Maintains consistency and highly visible presence in designated retail stores within assigned territory.
Maintains consistent store visit schedule and inputs into assigned system monthly.
Ensures product look and display is consistent with protocol, plan-o-gram compliance, samples working properly, overall appearance and above presentation standards of competitive products.
Ensures product is properly priced and POP is compliant.
Attends required training sessions on assigned products. Participates in all client-sponsored training events. Maintains any formal certifications on product knowledge as assigned.
Routinely trains and ensures understanding of retail sales associates on product, brand awareness, and brand image. Delivers ad hoc and special training sessions as assigned.
Provides routine feedback on current retail market conditions and/or opportunities that may affect sales or category share of product. Collects and reports information on competitive product and service offerings to management.
Routinely participates and/or presents in retail sales location store meetings.
Communicates via assigned methods (verbal, written, formal presentation) to management all assigned reports on position activities by assigned due dates.
Assists in the analysis of sales and market/territory data used to provide consultation and/or correction for under-performing markets.
Assists in identifying growth opportunities for client sales and marketing initiatives.
Proactively learns to effectively understand and appropriately communicate competitive products, market trends, and pertinent technologies.
Participates in analysis of market strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats as assigned in collaboration with management.
Other duties as assigned to improve performance of self or others.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education: Undergraduate degree preferred with an emphasis in Business or Marketing desired.
Experience Level: Minimum two years experience in retail, retail operations, retail distribution, merchandising, sales, marketing and service organizations required. Excellent communication skills required. Strong presentation skills with small to medium sized groups with one year experience in educational delivery. Previous account management experience desirable. At least two years experience in adult education, training/development or academic teaching required. Minimum one year in design and development of written training materials, manuals, guide books, job aids, etc.
Tools and Technology: Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency. Experience with proprietary systems that track sales, expenses, etc. Understanding of learning management systems and on-line training course completion. Significant understanding of remote business tools such as smart phones, tablets, and/or laptop use, including trouble-shooting issues with connectivity. Access to reliable transportation for travel within assigned territory of up to 150 retail locations.
Certifications and Licenses: Internal vendor and/or client certifications as assigned. Valid driver’s license in state of residence.
Language Ability: Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization, both one-on-one and large classrooms in person and via teleconferencing.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to translate business process requirements into training plans. Ability to make choices necessary to complete performance objectives to ensure client satisfaction.
Work Environment: Remote home office environment with travel up to 100% to corporate offices, regional offices, client and/or vendor offices, training or convention venues, and retail establishments. Subject to before and after-hours work to meet deadlines. Subject to weekend (Saturday and Sunday) work.
Physical Demands: Must have and maintain sufficient strength, agility, and endurance to perform during stressful (physical, mental and emotional) situations encountered on the job without compromising your health and well-being or that of your fellow employees or clients. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear. Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects such as small appliances, computers and peripherals. Applicable physical activities involved with local or long-distance travel. Ability to set up training room environments and vendor pads that involve display materials, computer equipment, power cords, etc.
Consults or Interacts with: All levels of staff, management, executives, clients and customers, retail sales personnel, vendors, and others in the management of services delivery and oversight in assigned locations and markets.
