The Field Service Rep/ Field Technician is responsible as the service product specialist for assigned equipment and will perform work at customer sites, worldwide. Must maintain highest level of training on the equipment and be able to train other service reps on their assigned equipment as well as support development of training material. As well as, assist office personnel with the training and development of new service representatives. This position is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting and repair of marine propulsion gas turbines and generator sets and large marine propulsion machinery such as Fixed / Controllable Pitch propellers, steering thrusters, water jets and associated control systems
This position will cultivate and maintain customer contacts and relationships and identify and develop new business opportunities for Rolls-Royce Naval Marine, Inc. service.
Ensure that any applicable software, tools and instructions are developed and up-to-date so the reps can perform their jobs without delay/issue
Receive assignment; verify ships schedule and requirements of services with the customer; make necessary travel and accommodation arrangements. Organize work, establish and organize schedules and priorities, determine craft and manpower requirements
Project manage jobs to include developing quotes and plans, establishing and detailing requirements to meet scope, identifying potential suppliers and executing to plan
Support the work of shipboard and shipyard personnel to effect repairs in a timely manner. Perform underway repairs onboard vessels as required
Install start up and systems calibration; input and modify parameter settings for PLC and single board computer controls systems.
Report on daily progress on assignments to the Service Manager or Customer Leads as required and complete service reports, time sheets and other applicable documentation in a timely manner to ensure minimum billing cycles
Provide home office with the necessary technical documentation to request necessary Engineering changes and drawing/procedure updates
Write assemble, disassembly, repair, operation and test procedures as necessary. Complete operational documentation for installed/repaired equipment

Qualifications and experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 5+ years of experience in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and gas turbine systems and/or 5+ years of experience with applicable equipment (propulsion and/or gas turbine) or equivalent specialized training in applicable equipment
In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, 9+ years of experience in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and gas turbine systems and applicable equipment (propulsion and/or gas turbine) experience or equivalent specialized training for applicable equipment
Read and interpret engineering drawings
Must be able to finance all travel expenses subject to reimbursement by the Company
Experience with US Navy vessels
Ability to travel and perform work on an unlimited/unrestricted basis worldwide
Ability to go aboard ships to evaluate engine room/ machinery spaces and to move about shipyard and marine repair facilities
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Self-starter who works well within a team environment
Proficient in use of MS Excel and Word and strong verbal communication skills
Broad knowledge of technical fields such as electrical, mechanical and hydraulic
Proficient in a Windows environment for troubleshooting of control systems, spreadsheets and other administrative duties
Ability to use and carry a personal computer and cell phone
This should include climbing ladders, work in enclosed spaces, and work from high reaches and staging platforms. This may include operating at an inverted angle
