The Center for Civic Engagement is seeking a Finance and Grants Manager, reporting to the Director of the CCE/Vice President for Global Studies and Civic Engagement. The Finance & Grants Manager works with CCE leaders, administrative staff, and faculty to create, manage, and coordinate the budgeting and expenditure process, and is responsible for overseeing and exercising financial control over all operating and restricted income and expenses, including unrestricted and restricted grants, earned income, and endowment income.
The CCE encompasses more than a dozen different programs, the majority of which receive grants from private and government sources and half of which earn substantial tuition income. Current gifts and grants exceed $10 million/year from more than 20 different grants. The Finance and Grants Manager oversees and creates clear and transparent grant, operating, and projection budgets and expense reports for all CCE programs. The Finance and Grants Manager works with staff to support Bard’s shared financial oversight of five international partnership programs with different foreign currencies, several of which receive significant sub grants through Bard.
CCE programs must respond to frequently changing conditions and circumstances that may make it necessary to adjust expectations, shift priorities, and find funds for unanticipated needs.
The position requires strong management skills, financial experience, and a high degree of flexibility and adaptability. Extensive experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and grant management, and in-depth knowledge of donor regulations are required. A degree in accounting or MBA is desirable.

Specific responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing standardized financial procedures across CCE programs
Working with Bard’s finance office to streamline the tracking of grant budgets with Bard’s accounting system.
Developing and implementing a process for making and tracking program sub grants.
Ensuring that budgets across CCE are consistent, clear, and appropriate
Monitoring the administration of CCE grants, and ensuring adherence with donor regulations.
Maintaining compliance on a number of federal grants; this demands a principal role on procurement, branding and marking, timekeeping, and an array of reporting requirements.
Communicating professionally and in a timely fashion with donors and partners to ensure effective grant management and advance program implementation.
Ensuring that programs come in within budget.
Drafting budget proposals and budget narratives, and drafting financial reports that meet donor requirements.
Ensuring smooth operation and information flow among CCE’s diverse programs and affiliated programs.
