We are looking for a Finance Manager to lead Hulu’s budgeting and forecasting cycles. You must be pro-active, self directed, and possess an atypical high quality bar for yourself and your work product. You will need to be a master at project management, be able to think through an issue and readily grasp the quickest, easiest way to get to the goal.
This position will report directly to the Controller and will quarter-back the company-wide budgeting and forecasting cycles as well as lead several key projects in between. Hulu is a very flat organization and the Finance team is a small group. This individual will have direct exposure to the CFO and will interact with all levels of management across the company.
Responsibilities may include (but will not necessarily be limited to):
Managing the company-wide budgeting and forecasting cycles, including:
Managing information flow from several sources to pull together key components of the budget
Consolidating the U.S. budget with foreign subsidiaries
Creating a working balance sheet and cash flow, both at the entity level and consolidation level
Ensuring the appropriate application of GAAP
Articulating any new additions to the budgets and variances year-over-year
Creating a calendar and detailed timeline for deliverables
Leading regular status meetings to update the CFO and Controller of progress
Establishing and communicating processes to ensure document version control
Developing and enforcing the use of consistent templates for easy data aggregation
Working with the Assistant Controller and Accounting Manager to ensure budgets and forecasts can be easily tracked against and uploaded into the accounting system
Handling all financial analysis requests requiring the access of sensitive personnel information
Managing ad hoc projects, some of which may be urgent in nature and contain sensitive information
Establishing a leadership role within the department, providing mentorship and learning development to staff
Assisting with the development of departmental administrative documents, as needed
In addition to the above, building productive relationships internally with peers in other departments is a must. We are one big team at Hulu and working collaboratively is imperative!
Bachelor's degree with a major or emphasis in Accounting from a major university required
5 to 7 years of experience, with at least 4 years of public accounting experience from a Big 4 accounting firm
Sound technical knowledge of basic accounting principles with prior practical application – must be able to create a detailed integrated income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow from scratch Maturity to handle sensitive personnel information
Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft business suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
Analytical skills with the ability to think critically
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to multi-task and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented mindset and a high sense of urgency
Strong work ethic with the ability to work extended hours during critical periods such as month and year-end
Team oriented outlook with a positive attitude and a fit with our Hulu culture
Initially this position will not have any direct reports; however, our environment is ever-changing. Prior experience managing a team of at least two is definitely a plus.
