This description is intended to indicate the kinds of duties and level of difficulty required of this position; it is not intended to limit the right of any supervisor to assign, direct, and control the work of an employee under his/her supervision.

To conduct financial aid interviews with newly applied and/or continuing students and process all materials required for financial aid packaging.

1.Present a warm, friendly, and professional appearance when greeting and assisting clients, students, and visitors; follow proper procedures for receiving telephone calls and provide appropriate information when possible.

2.Acquire, maintain, and demonstrate strong knowledge of all appropriate state, federal, and institutional financial aid policies, procedures, and regulations.

3.Conduct appropriate and accurate financial aid appointments; assist all students (including VA students) with student financial applications, and counsel and advise students and parents regarding available financial assistance programs.

4.Conduct re-application process for all continuing students for the new Financial Aid Year by March 1st to ensure all students meet the deadline for State Grant assistance.

5.Process and complete student files to include all required forms and materials necessary for completion of financial aid packaging.

6.Complete weekly report on outstanding and incomplete files for all students as required; assist with monthly accounts receivable reports and submit as required.

7.Process and maintaining documentation for VA students as required by state regulations and the Veterans Administration.

8.Process all stipends for current students (when eligible) and forward to Executive Directors office for authorization.

9.Prepare list of End of Loan Period (EOLP) students for Corporate Refund Specialist.

10.Communicate with Admissions department weekly regarding current status of new students.

11.Participate in graduation preview, student registration, and quarterly re-entry campaigns as necessary responding to financial aid inquiries.

12.Attend financial aid training seminars and workshops as required.

13.Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent or 3-5 years of previous student financial aid experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous work experience in financial industry preferred.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook in addition to familiarity performing research on the Internet.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
