The

Financial Analyst / Accounting Systems

role in the National Finance Firmwide Accounting Group crosses over between accounting and systems. This professional serves as a financial system liaison between the Accounting, Finance and Information Technology team members; maintains business rules which govern manual & automated processing in Ernst & Young's financial system; assists the financial community during month-end and year-end closes; serves as an Operational Super-User for the Global Financial Reporting application; reviews high-level security access requests relating to the financial system and reporting applications; assists with the statutory calendar year-end (cash books) close and provides accrual to cash reporting; serves as a System Administrator for the Revenue Planning application; reviews global communications to determine their impact on the local financial community; provides specifications for system enhancements, customizations and defect resolutions; assists internal clients with analysis, reconciliation, data retrieval, system flow and reporting; uses various reporting and analytical tools for data mining and ad hoc reporting.

Responsibilities

Act as the financial system liaison between Accounting, Finance and Information Technology team members. Verify the integrity of the financial system, identify any discrepancies and communicate them to the respective module owners.

Maintain business rules which govern manual & automated processing in Ernst & Young's financial system. Verify the accuracy of configuration migrations and identify problems with validation tables.

Assist the financial community during month-end and year-end closes. Review and process manual journal entries that contain restrictions, which prohibit processing by regular general ledger accountants.

Serve as an Operational Super-User for the Global Financial Reporting application by managing the reporting hierarchy and processing security access requests.

Review and determine the appropriateness of high-level security access requests relating to the financial system and reporting applications.

Assist with the statutory calendar year-end (cash books) close and provide accrual to cash reporting and ad hoc support.

Serve as a System Administrator for the Revenue Planning application by configuring system requirements, performing data loads, and handling ad hoc data requests.

Review global communications to determine their impact on the local financial community, and make necessary modifications before distributing locally.

Provide specifications for system enhancements, customizations and defect resolutions, and participate in testing the changes.

Provide guidance and assistance to internal clients in analysis, reconciliation, data retrieval, system flow and reporting.

Use various reporting and analytical tools for data mining and ad hoc reporting as well as identify areas where efficiencies can be achieved through automation.

Experience

approximately 4-6 years of related accounting experience

proficiency in various computer applications pertaining to financial and accounting systems, such as Microsoft Office (emphasis on Access & Excel), Business Objects, Cognos Impromptu, Deltek CostPoint, Deltek Time & Expense, and PeopleSoft

strong analytical, problem-solving, and delegation skills

strong interpersonal skills with the ability to teach others basic software functionality

ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience
