The Financial Analyst-Cost Accountant primarily supports the mission of the DCH Health System by updating, maintaining and developing cost accounting and product line financial information. The Financial Analyst-Cost Accountant updates and maintains the EPSi cost accounting and product line financial systems and produces standard and custom reports to support financial decisions throughout the DCH Health System.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Participates in the management and effective use of the decision support systems.
Produces quarterly financial reports for various product lines.
Updates and maintains the cost accounting system.
Meets with key department staff to develop and review relative value units and other statistics for allocation of costs in the cost accounting system.
Responsible for weekly data updates to the product line financial system.
Responsible for the annual reconciliation of cost accounting and product line data to hospital financial statements.
Performs other financial analysis as assigned.
Works on special projects as assigned.
Provides daily statistical information on revenue and key performance indicators.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
- Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
- Requires use of EPSi cost accounting and product line financial systems, Meditech, Excel, electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.

Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a major in accounting or equivalent required
Two to four years of accounting experience required
EPSi, Meditech, healthcare and cost accounting experience preferred
Must have good communication skills
Must be proficient with Excel and creating Excel spreadsheets
Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Physical presence on site is essential. Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range. Able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
