Financial Analyst I/II

Basic Functions
Participates in the timely and accurate reporting and analysis of financial information.

Essential Job Functions

Supports the day-to-day accounting and trading operations for the 401(k) product, including but not limited to daily pricing functions for mutual funds, accounting for mutual funds, NAV calculations, monitoring and reconciling trade activity, reconciling fund positions, expenses accrual processing, general ledger account reconciliation, and Schedule D reporting.
Assists with preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information, including, but not limited to, analysis of reported results for reasonableness, comparison of actual to plan for GAAP and Statutory operating results, key business driver results, annualized new business premium results, quarterly Board of Directors reporting, rating agency reporting for strategic business units and/or Corporate, and support/oversee internal/external audits and state/federal regulatory reviews as applicable. Identifies financial trends and provides recommendations based upon analysis and interpretation of results.
Assists with processing, monitoring, maintenance and adjustments for transactions related to fund accounting and trading. Includes coordination of financial information, activities and systems with various business units, as required, to ensure that fund accounting and trading processes are completed timely and accurately.
Assists with financial and administrative projects as assigned, including re-engineering efforts, specific process changes and/or ad-hoc reporting required to support all business activities.
Contributes to more efficient operations by designing and implementing procedures and practices for controlling and monitoring expenses, expediting accurate and timely data, and increasing analysis and clarity of financial reports.
Coordinates with various business units, as required, to ensure that processes are accurate, efficient and timetables are achievable. Establishes and maintains appropriate documentation associated with all procedures, policies and activities.

Minimum Job Requirements

Two years experience in financial accounting, statistical analysis and reporting
Thorough knowledge and experience utilizing a Windows environment and various software applications including Excel
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Verbal and written communication and listening skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Basic decision-making, judgment and problem-solving skills involving presenting alternatives and recommendations, utilizing technological tools and resources
Creativity and flexibility
Must be able to work evenings to support daily pricing functions
Prior experience in mutual fund accounting and trading operations in a daily valuation environment preferred
Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business preferred
