At the entry level of this position, you will:
Receive oral and written inquires of a clerical / technical nature from within the Agency with respect to time & attendance, payroll, and human resources support.
Analyze incoming information requests and proceed independently with the resolution.
Refer unusual and highly complex problems to the Team Leader, gathering all necessary background information and documentation as necessary.
Assist in training Headquarters employees on various functions and use of the Agency's time & attendance and travel systems.
When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses.
You do not need a degree to qualify for this position.
We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-07 level, you need to have at least one year of full time experience defined as conducting research and providing feedback to customers in respect to financial systems and policies.
1 full year of graduate level education; or superior academic achievement degree in any academic discipline.
To qualify for the GS-09 level, you need to have at least one year of full time experience defined as conducting research, analysis, and solutions to financial problems involving pay and travel financial systems.
master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; degree in any academic discipline.
Your answers to the on-line assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Skill in communicating financial systems information to program liaisons; 2) Knowledge of financial system relational databases; 3) Skill in analyzing documents for accuracy; 4) Knowledge of principles of financial management; 5) Knowledge of structured systems analysis principles and approaches; 6) Skill in communicating detailed, technical information in a clear, logical, and concise manner; 7) Knowledge of payroll or other financial management systems; and 8) Skill in providing presentations to a wide audience.
This position is designated as Moderate Risk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.
If you are selected, you must complete a one year probationary period.
HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

You are being evaluated under the category rating method which means, if you are determined to be qualified, you will be placed into the Best Qualified, Well Qualified, or Qualified Category.

We will evaluate your qualifications and eligibility and notify you if you meet minimum qualification requirements.
