Regular, Part-Time (75% FTE), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Apprentice Program at Kapi'olani Community College, located on Oahu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

MINIMUM HOURLY RATE: $8.53/Hr.

DUTIES: Performs food and beverage service activities at a work station in a large dining room or banquet operation or has responsibility for all food and beverage service in a small dining room or banquet operation; may supervise apprentices and student help. Plans for and supervises the work of apprentices in a large dining room or banquet operation. Trains and instructs apprentices and student workers in quality service procedures. Avoids waste and conserves supplies when appropriate.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. EXPERIENCE: Two to four (2-4) years of food service experience that demonstrates knowledge of quality food and beverage service, safety and sanitation practices, effective work organization, and staff utilization or educational requirement as listed above (Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college may substitute for experience). ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Knowledge of the art and science of culinary arts to include all aspects of dining room or banquet operations such as: dining room and banquet service including the service of alcoholic beverage and wines; food safety and sanitation requirements; and the principles and practices of supervision. Ability to instruct and supervise others in all dining room and banquet activities; determine dining room or banquet set-up needs; plan dining room or banquet activities to meet scheduled meal times. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. PHYSICAL/MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: Perform heavy lifting (up to thirty (30) pounds). Must possess tuberculosis (TB) clearance. POLICY AND/OR REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS: As a condition of employment, incumbent will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies and procedures and as applicable subject to University of Hawaii's and/or business entity's policies and procedures. Violation of RCUH's, UH's, or business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.).

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working as a dining room waithelp or higher in a full service restaurant. Familiar with all aspects of food and beverage service including: American-hand, American-tray, Buffet, Butler, French, and Russian service styles.
